Welcome!

The 2020 Fall Conference of the Oregon State Beekeepers Association takes place online via Zoom this year, first time ever with all due respect to COVID-19. Rather than our traditional weekend gathering, we are meeting during portions of two weekends and three Wednesday evenings between October 24 and November 14. In making this unanticipated move into the virtual realm, we are providing detailed instructions for joining us as well as the opportunity to participate in practice sessions prior to the event. In addition, sessions are to be recorded this year and made available to registrants for 30 days following the event. The Conference Program is now available for viewing or download.

The 2020 Conference

These conference pages include the Tentative Agenda for this year’s scheduled events and information about our Presentations and Presenters. In addition to the learnings and perspective we’ll gain from researchers, we will have opportunities to hone our skills in such areas as candle making, preparation for honey shows, and working with propolis as well as through Question & Answer sessions with participants in the Oregon Master Beekeeper Program. In addition, we will have a Honey Show of our best honey, wax, and photography; the opportunity to submit samples to the OSU Honey Bee Lab; and a chance to participate in an online Silent Auction—all proceeds of which go to research. The event is rounded out by visits with Exhibitors and program Advertisers supporting the conference and the bees. Our General Membership Meeting takes place on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at 1 pm.

Thus, there are many ways to be involved this year, even though we will miss meeting with one another in person. Please consider participation in them all! They include:

Participating in Conference Presentations throughout the six days of the event

Submitting questions for the Wednesday Q&A Sessions

Entering the Honey Show

Sending bee samples for analyses by the OSU Honey Bee Lab

Looking into closets and under beds for items to donate to the Silent Auction

Bidding on treasures when the Silent Auction opens

Supporting our Exhibitors and Advertisers

Attending our annual General Membership Meeting

Reviewing Recorded Sessions for 30 days after the event

The 2020 Honey Show and OSBA General Membership Meeting are open to all OSBA members, whether registered for the conference or not. The Silent Auction and invitation to submit samples to the OSU Honey Bee Lab are open to any and all with interest.

Take a few moments to check out the pages for details on being involved.

Registration

Online

For registration online, go to Registration. There is no deadline for registration online this year, though registration must be completed within 24 hours prior to a given session to ensure attendance.

By Mail

For registration by mail, please download and complete the Conference Registration Form and mail it with a check or money order, made payable to OSBA, to the address listed on the form. The deadline for mail-in registration is October 17, 2020. All mail-in registrations need to be postmarked no later than this date.

Cost

The cost of the full conference is $50 for registration by October 1, 2020. Although registration remains available after October 1, an increased cost for registration ($60) will apply.

Note: A print copy of the Conference Program will be mailed to those who register by the early deadline, October 1, and also be posted online. We will print extra copies of the program and mail them to those who register after October 1 as long as copies last. Please fill out mail-in forms extra carefully and double check information entered online.

Consider registering as early as possible—even now! In doing so, you will avoid the additional cost after October 1, help ensure receipt of the printed program, and facilitate the work of those who are planning the conference.

Also, please note that there are no refunds this year.
