Oregon State Beekeepers Association

Supporting Bees and Beekeeping Since 1921

Oregon State Fair

  • 20 Aug 2024
  • 3 Sep 2024

The volunteer schedule has been posted and you are welcome to sign up to volunteer for the OSBA Oregon State Fair booth.

The Oregon State Beekeepers always put on a great presentation, and I’m reminded each year that ours is the most popular booth in the Creative Living department. That’s quite a high bar, and we are anxious to not only reach it again this year, but perhaps surpass prior years.

Our booth will focus on the honeybee’s instrumental role in pollination (“Pollinating with Purpose”). We’ll have many plants/trees and educational sign boards by each main variety.

In order to make all of this come together, we need volunteers to help construct the booth, man the booth, assist with entry intake, assist with judging, breaking the booth down and a few other interesting tasks that are yet to be determined. Sign up at the link below.

WANTED: Honeybee advocates! Volunteer for one of 3 shifts a day (11 days). Shifts are 10a-2p, 2p-6p, and 6p-close. There are a lot of time slots to choose from.

Consider signing up your club for an entire day! Take turns in the booth and enjoy the fair when you’re not on shift. Plus, you can save gas by coming together!

WANTED: Overnight hosts! If you have room for guests, or a place to park an RV/camper, please let me know. We want beekeepers from across the entire state to be able to participate in our biggest event of the year. You can help make that happen

WANTED: Help set up and/or break the booth down. Set up is 10 am Tuesday August 20, and break down is 10 am Tuesday, Sept 3.

WANTED: Nucs for our observation hive! Please contact our hive coordinator, Jeremy Mitchell. mailto:jeremy@flyingbeeranch.net

COMPETITION: For information about competing in the fair this year, check out the rules and regs which are posted on the Oregon State Fair website, under “Honey and Products of the Hive”.

If you’ve already signed up, thank you! All volunteers get fair passes and free parking, and water is provided. Everyone listed on the schedule will receive a letter from me explaining the details in advance of the fair.

Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to share your passion and education with so many people excited to learn about honeybees.

Your help is much appreciated.
