OSBA Auctions

This year’s Silent Auction is taking place virtually. Bidding is now open. NOTE: The closing has now been changed to noon, October 24, 2021. As in years past, the Benefit Auction will follow the conference banquet on Saturday evening, October 23, 2021. All proceeds from the auctions are given to research, primarily in support of the ongoing work at Oregon State University. A portion of the retail cost of items donated and the amounts paid by those with successful bids may be tax deductible; OSBA is organized exclusively for charitable, education, and/or scientific purposes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

GloryBee is again this year offering a generous match for funds raised through the auction. For 2021, the match is up to $15,000 for the combined funds raised during the online Silent Auction and at the Benefit Auction to take place on site at the conference.

  Thank you, GloryBee!

Silent Auction

The Silent Auction takes place online this year, in the same way we held the online auction during our 2020 Fall Conference. Our success for the Silent Auction (as well as for the Benefit Auction) depends entirely on those who donate items and those who “take them home”! A unique feature of the online Silent Auction is that neither those who donate nor those who bid on items need be registered for the conference. All are welcome to participate.

Donating Online Auction Items

We have no auction without you! Please scour your closets and attics for items that you may no longer use. Items need not be bee related. Large or small, each and every donation matters. Again, the auction does not happen—cannot happen—apart from all who donate items and all who bid on items. Your efforts are essential and very much appreciated!

For an item you wish to donate to the Silent Auction, send (1) the name of the item, (2) a description, (3) a representative photograph, and (4) the retail cost, as known, to Charlie Vanden Heuvel at: charlie.bgbees@gmail.com. Items brought to the conference in person may be entered into the Silent Auction. Please also bring the information needed for entering items online.

In entering an item for auction, you may request that a minimum bid be placed on a donated item, as warranted.

In addition, be prepared to indicate your preference for delivery—i.e., whether you will ship, the bidder is to cover the cost of shipping, or the item needs to be picked up from you at a given location.

Donations for the auctions are also welcome on site!

Items brought to the conference site and designated for the online Silent Auction will be added to the Silent Auction website. Items on site will be displayed on tables that ring the Events Area for close viewing for both the online Silent Auction and the Benefit Auction.

Drop off at items at Registration in the Lobby.

Be sure to fill out a form for your donation while there!

Reminder: You do not need to be registered for the conference to donate or bid.

Bidding on Online Auction Items

All bidding will take place online. Once the auction opens, access to the auction site may be gained online.

The first step involved in bidding in the auction is registration on the auction website. This entails providing (1) your name, (2) an email address, and (3) a credit card number. Someone will be present on site at the conference to help folks who may encounter difficulties with the technology.

Please note that your credit card is neither accessed nor charged unless you are successful in a bid on an item.

Bidding Options

You may browse items as a whole to get a sense of all that is available.

You may also browse items by category (for example, sport, home, garden, and so forth), which may simplify searches if you are interested in particular items.

You may pay a fixed price on some items, in which case you click on a Bid Now button. When successful, this guarantees your purchase of an item.

You may bypass items entirely as you have the option to donate money directly to the auction.

Note: Bidding has begun; Bidding ends at noon, October 24, 2021.

Benefit Auction

The Benefit Auction also will take place in the Events Area of the facility, Saturday, October 23, 2021. It will follow the conference Banquet.

As is true of the Silent Auction, the Benefit Auction cannot happen without you! We welcome donations of goods, events, and services. All funds raised at the auction—i.e., what is contributed by all with winning bids at the auction—go to research.

Donations for the auctions are welcome on site! Items need not be bee related.

Items brought to the conference site and designated for the in-person Benefit Auction will be added to the Benefit Auction. Items on site will be displayed on tables that ring the Events Area for close viewing for both the online Silent Auction and the Benefit Auction.

Drop off at items at Registration in the Lobby.

Be sure to fill out a form for your donation while there!

Enjoy the auction 🙂
