Fun in Florence!
The conference site is on the Siuslaw near the Coast, just next door to Heceta Head Lighthouse, Sea Lion Caves, and the Siuslaw National Forest with The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, which extends for 40 miles along the Coast from Florence to Coos Bay. For those who are arriving early or able to extend their stay, there are so many nearby natural areas! In addition to packing rain gear, make sure to toss in our binoculars for birding and whale watching, with whales feeding nearby while we’re in Florence this fall. With a multitude shopping options and opportunities for dining (see the Florence Chamber of Commerce site and that of Trip Advisor) in town, we’ll also be able visit museums such as the Siuslaw Pioneer Museum and the Oregon Coast Military Museum.
